  • Clinically licensed in Arizona, California, and Michigan. Barnaby offers consultations and therapy for individuals and couples in Yavapai County, Arizona (Prescott). He also offers telephone and email consultations across the country.
  • Well known for his work as a therapist, Barnaby has been elected a Fellow of the American Psychological Association and of the American Association for Psychoanalysis in Psychology. In 1996, he was awarded diplomate status by the American Board of Professional Psychology. He continues to give lectures and lead workshops around the country and overseas.

Professional Accomplishments

  • Barnaby earned his first doctorate in developmental and clinical psychology from Harvard University; his second doctorate in clinical and educational sexology from the Institute for Advanced Study of Human Sexuality; and his postdoctoral training at the University of Michigan's Neuropsychiatric Institute.
  • In 1976, he was honored for his scholarship by being elected to the University of Michigan's Society of Fellows. In 1993, he was elected a Fellow of the American Psychological Association; in 1996, he was awarded the American Board of Professional Psychology's diplomate and was elected a Fellow of the American Association for Psychoanalysis in Psychology. Barnaby is a Life Member of the American Philosophical Association, a longstanding member of the Sexuality Information and Education Council of the United States, and a member of the International Psychoanalytic Association.
  • Barnaby is certified as a Sexuality Educator and as a certified diplomate in Sex Therapy by the American Association of Sex Educators, Counselors and Therapists, and served on this organization's Board of Directors from 1997 to 2006, being elected as its President from 2004 to 2006.
  • Author of six books, and about seventy scientific and professional papers, articles and reviews. His fifth book, Sexual Health and Erotic Freedom, was published in 2005 by Xlibris.
  • Barnaby is frequently sought as lecturer and consultant on topics including sexual education, treatment of sexual distress, diversity of contemporary sexual practices, issues of sexual rights, and tantric spirituality.

Personal Information

Barnaby was born in England, and has lived and traveled in India, Tibet, China, and Thailand. He is the father of one adult son, and stepfather of two adult stepdaughters. Barnaby is an active member of Amnesty International, the American Civil Liberties Union, and the Green Party. He serves on the national Board of Directors of the Woodhull Freedom Foundation.

  • In 1995, Marsha moved to Florida, gaining clinical experience working with diverse groups, and earning a Masters degree in Medical Family Therapy.
  • In 2002, Marsha established a private practice in North Carolina, counseling individuals, couples and adults. She began to specialize in sexuality issues, and earned the prestigious Certification in Sex Therapy from the American Association of Sexuality Educators, Counselors, and Therapists in 2005.

Personal Information

Having been involved in meditation and spiritual practice for many years, Marsha initiated herself on the tantric path in 2005. She subsequently undertook extensive training as a shamanic practitioner. Partnered to Dr. Barnaby B. Barratt, she is the mother of three adult children, and grandmother of two young girls.
